Aestiva Aiya is the hieress of one of the Seekers of the Heavens' seven combat schools. As a hieress much is expected of this young seeker, but she readily responds to the challenge. She excels in a number of forms of combat and is admired by many of the younger Seekers of the Heavens for her abilities. Her skill with the chain-whip has earned her the nickname "Green Lightning". After easily making her way through the lower ranks of the Seekers of the Heavens, she becomes the top-ranked seeker in their Second Class division. However, she loses this ranking when she's defeated by Xian Lu (Lana) in the final match of the Second Class Combat Examinations. From that day forward she swears that Lana is her "Ultimate Rival" and promises to defeat her. A year later she fights Lana against in the finals of the First Class Combat Examination, but the match ends in a decisive draw. After the finals her spirits hit an all-time low when Lana was chosen for a special assignment put together by Aiya's own idol, the Knight of Moon, while she was left out of the mission. A few months later she receives notice that the members of the special assignment team are missing and that the Supreme Strike Commander has requested her to accompany her on the retrival mission.
